Consumers buy and producers sell, but there is more to it than that. People have to work and so the producers can sell, producers must supply so that the consumers can buy and so on. It is truly a never ending chain reaction of buying and selling. In order for the economy to run, people to live, and so many other crucial parts of a daily life, one things has to keep growing, and that one thing is entrepreneurship. When two companies sell the same product or service it forces either company to lower their prices, and even in some cases can cause both companies to lower prices. Competition can only result in benefits for t he consumer, whether it is by lower prices or a variation in products. Entrepreneurs must make themselves adaptable to every market. One way this can be achieved is through variation in products and creating new and unique ideas. These small businesses must come up with these ideas and products to push other competition out and to bring new customers in. â€Å"Most of the innovations of the past 100 years, electricity, the automobile, the airplane and even the computer, that have re-made the economic landscape have come from the minds of entrepreneurs† (Kritikos). All of this intense need to get ahead in the game has positive effects on the consumer and on the market. This obviously benefits the consumer because of the new tools that can be created to make life easier. This also can benefit the economy because money is being put into it through the buying and the making of the products. If successful with creating a new product a small company can start to expand. When most small businesses expand they look to develop in to a company that can bring in a larger revenue (Brown). This brings good news for the rest

Tessand Holden are trapped by societys class system, their struggles withmoney, and their own inexperience and naivety, which lead them to makedisastrous choices that inevitably doom them to a tragic end. Tess and Holden are both caught in societys class system, and becausethey are confused about what is expected of them from society they makechoices based upon their own beliefs. Tess felt inferior to Angel becausehis family was financially stable, while her family was not. Tess choosesto tell Angel about Alec seducing her, and when Angel takes the news poorlyshe tells him I will obey you like your wretched slave, even if it is tolie down and die (Hardy 226). Because Tess feels socially inferior, sheis willing to act as a slave. Angel, however, leaves because he sees Tessas something too low for him. This abandonment is the key to Tessdownfall. Holden is at the opposite end of the ladder, he has wealth, andbecause of his money he feels as though he is better than other people, while Tess feels as if she is lower than other people. While Holden is inthe cab he makes the choice by of asking Horwitz you ever pass by thelagoon in Central Park? Down by the Central Park South? (Salinger 81). Holden is asking the cab driver, Horwitz a question that he knows will nothave an answer to. When Horwitz does not respond, Holden has a feeling of superiority over himbecause Holden perceives Horwitz as a mere cabbie who doesnt compare tohimself and his social class. Tess and Holden are opposite ends, and inthis instance they approach similar situations completely differentlybecause of where they stand in society. Society and the class divisions oftheir time influence them both. Tess makes the choice of telling Angel ofher previous sexual relation and because of it Angel tragically leaves her,and Holden makes the choice of mocking those who he feels to be sociallyinferior, eventually ends up tragically alone and institutionalized. Tess was a beautiful English peasant whose sole purpose in life wasto marry a wealthy man so that her family would become financially stable, while Holdens family already had wealth, but he felt as though money madepeople phony. Tess reluctantly made the tragic choice of marrying Alec forhis money and because he told her that Angel was never going to return. After Angel returns from Brazil, he immediately goes to see Tess andnoticesHer neck rose out of a frill of down, and her well-rememberedcableof dark-brown hair was partially coiled up in a mass at the backof her head and partly hanging on her shoulder-the evidentresult of haste. (Hardy 371)Tess is a different person from when Angel last saw her, and now Tess hasbecome a gold digger who only married Alec for his money. Tess is nolonger happy and the arrival of Angel only reminds Tess of the happinessshe is missing. Tess and Holden are similar to one another in that theyboth realize that money doesnt bring them happiness, and they both can behappy without having wealth. .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b , .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .postImageUrl , .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b , .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:hover , .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:visited , .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:active { border:0!important; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:active , .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u306c7dcbbce39be034acc8d80ae4948b:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Urbanization Essay PaperEven though Holden doesnt believe in God, he willingly gave two nuns tendollars for their collection, but then he realizedAfter they left, I started getting sorry that Id only giventhem ten bucks for their collection. Mars And Venus United By Love Essays - Sexuality In Ancient Rome

Mars And Venus United By Love Mars and Venus United by Love by Paolo Veronese is done in the Renaissance style of painting. This is done in this style, because Poalo Veroneses was a Renaissance painter as well as his teacher Titan. The painting takes place in Rome in the Mythological Era. It is not known who commissioned this work. Emperor Rudolf II in Prague owned this piece of artwork as well as four others of Veroneses paintings. Mars is the God of war; and Venus is the Goddess of love.(These are the Roman names for the Greek Gods; which in Greek Venus was called Aphrodite and Mars was actually called Aries.) The theme of this painting has to do with Roman mythology. Cupid is tying Mars and Venus together. There are many different explanations that people have came up with to explain this painting. There is always that tie between love and war, even the saying make love not war. The most common translation would be [Venus, the woman symbolizes chastity transformed by love into charity and that the horse held back by an armed cupid is an emblem of passion restrained](Metropolitan Museum of Art, pg.185) The painting clearly shows Mars and Venus being tied together by a cupid. So I can see why this is the most popular translation of this painting. My personal response was really strong after seeing the painting for the first time. As soon as I saw this painting I knew that it had a deeper meaning to it; and not just some people being tied together by a cupid. I knew right away that it had to do with Roman mythology just from the names. After looking at this painting for a while there is still something that the artist is trying to portray, that is really tough. It feels like there is more going on than what seems. The painting has such a calm tone to it but it gives a little hint of roughness with the sword and the horse, which I think, helps to balance this painting. There is sort of sneakiness to this painting being that it is sort of hidden behind this wall, and that the column of the centaur seems to be looking down at them with a grin on his face. There is one question that I still havent figured out, and would like to know. That is what is going on behind the actual painting, During that time in mythology? What was going on to cause this unification of Mars and Venus? Arts Essays

Napolean Bonaparte Essays - French Emperors, House Of Bonaparte

Napolean Bonaparte Essays - French Emperors, House Of Bonaparte Napolean Bonaparte Napolean Bonaparte Napoleon Bonaparte was born in 1769 on the small island of Corsica in the Mediterranean Sea. He was born at a very hectic time. Corsica was trying to gain independence when French troops invaded. He was born during a war, and hell die because of one. When he turned ten his parents sent him to a military school just outside of Paris. He devoted himself to learning and gaining experience to military tactics, it paid off. When he was 16 he became a lieutenant in the artillery. Revolution broke out the same year. He joined the military of the French Republic. In October of 1705 a government official told Napoleon to defend the palace where the National Convention took place. He, with his small army, defeated the thousands of royalist in minutes. He is declared a hero. In 1796 the Directory appointed him to command a French army. He marched into Italy and liberated it from Austria, although some say he conquered it. The Directory wasnt doing very well. In 1799 it accused the French people of being corrupt. Napoleon seized this opportunity to take it over. On November 9, 1799 he and 500 soldiers took over one chamber of the National Legislature and drove out the members. The second chamber voted to end the directory. France was now in the hands of three officials, called consuls. Napoleon was one. In 1800, he and his fellow consuls set up the plebiscite in which the citizens had the right to vote yes or no on an issue. On December 2, 1804, Napoleon crowned himself emperor. The plebiscite made this so. The Pope crowned him himself. People thought he was a godsend. He greatly changed the economy of France by making a lot of reforms. He set up a bank, let emigres back into France, he let their be freedom of religion, he freed slaves, and set up the Napoleonic Code. The people outside of France thought differently about Napoleon. They hated him. In order to extend Frances power. He took over parts of Italy and set up a government in Switzerland. The British declared war on France afraid that he was going to go over Great Britain. Napoleon wanted to take over all of Europe, and he almost did. He won a series of battles; The Battle of Ulm, The Battle of Austerlitz, The Battle of Jena, and The Battle of Friedland. Napoleon was a military genius, on land that is. The Battle of Trafalgar was his first loss because it was on water. The commander of the British fleet was the Napoleon of the sea. In October 1805, he destroyed Napoleons 33 ships with his 27. Losing this battle forced Napoleon to give up his plans to invade Great Britain. In 1812 Napoleon decided to invade Russia. The Czar of Russia refused Napoleons request to stop selling grain to Britain. Napoleon took his Grand Army of conquered European countries citizens and marched into Russia. This was grave mistake. His soldiers were not used to the cold weather. The temperature got to below 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Instead of fighting the army, the Czar pulled his men back. Before leaving they burned their own fields and slaughtered their livestock. This was called the scorched-earth policy. When Napoleons army arrived their they didnt have to fight, but they gained nothing because everything was burnt to the ground. So they starved. Napoleon decided to retreat, but the Czar attacked the army in its worst state, when Napoleon made it back to France, he had only 10,000 men left out of 400,000. Taking advantage of Napoleons weakness, his enemies gathered to destroy him. Napoleon was able to raise another army and they met at Leipzig in Germany in 1813. Although Napoleon was great at land, he still lost. His enemies pushed closer towards Paris until Napoleons general eventually refused to fight. By 1814 Napoleon surrendered. His enemies exiled him to a small island called Elba near Italy. Napoleon wasnt done though. The new king of France was pushed from the throne 9 months after Napoleons defeat. Napoleon escaped from Elba and proclaimed that the French will be liberated with his help. Most of the French welcomed him back. He made and new army and stormed Paris. He became emperor again. Napoleons enemies quickly gathered to take out Napoleon again. They gathered their troops in Waterloo in Belgium. On June 18, 1815, Napoleon moved in. The British army held their ground all through the day. That night

Network letter - Article Example end the show for further strengthening that persona within the character during the â€Å"Dead Again† episode that dealt with the underground zombie lifestyle of New York City. In this particular episode, we saw a significant character development for Kate Beckett as she finally came close to the full understanding and acceptance of the events that happened in her life during the past year. That includes being ready to put her emotions on the line and accept the love being offered to her by a man who has stood by her for the past 4 years of her life. It was important to me, as a person who believes in the healing powers of psychiatry, that the episode portrayed her visits to a psychiatric professional as one that truly helps her get her life back together after her shooting in the previous season. By showing the analytical aspect of the doctors visit and allowing her to figure things our for herself with her doctor acting only as her guide, her character as a strong, intelligent, and logical woman is further reinforced. I applaud the team behind the show for such an accurate and convincing portrayal of the true way that a psychiatric visit takes place. In closing, I would like to encourage your program to continue its true to life portrayals of the steps that Kate Beckett must take in her life in order to become a truly whole and well person, finally capable of accepting a special kind of love and giving back the same to Richard Castle. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. POL- Basic Criminal Law Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2000 words

POL- Basic Criminal Law - Essay Example Local rules focus on the conduct that the local community expects people to abide by like speed limits in school zones and noise control at certain hours. If there is ever a conflict in federal law with a state or local rule, federal law will generally control. Most crimes require that you complete an affirmative act before you can be punished for the conduct. If you store drugs in the pocket of your jacket, you affirmatively possess a controlled substance. Some crimes, ironically, punish for omissions. For example, if you are aware that your boyfriend is physically abusing your child, you could be charged for failing to report child abuse. The basis of the crime isn’t what you did, but rather what you failed to do. Many people also assume that crimes are the result of an intentional conduct. Like noted above, if you intentionally had drugs, you could be punished for the intent of your conduct. However, crimes can also involve negligent conduct. For example speeding Most people never really intend to speed. They just (for instance) get caught up in their favorite song and never notice that they are speeding. But regardless of the intent, they are still liable for the speeding ticket. Another crime which has been growing in momentum is using a cell phone while driving. Because of the number of children injured, many states and communities have begun enacting laws which prohibit you  from driving in a school zone while using a cell phone. For instance if you injure a child while going through a school zone and using a cell phone, you could be charged for negligently causing injuries to the child. You did not intend to hurt the child, but because of your negligence, you could still be criminally prosecuted and punished. Crimes also vary by jurisdiction; from state to state and town to town. If you are concerned about whether your conduct, or absence of conduct,

Locke vs. Rousseau Essay Example for Free

Locke vs. Rousseau Essay ?According to Rousseau, the original condition of mankind was a peaceful and quixotic time in which people lived solitary, uncomplicated lives. This differs from Lockes concept of the state of nature in that, his natural condition of mankind was a state liberty in which one was able to conduct ones life as they saw fit. Like Rousseaus, it was a time of peace between the people, but Lockes was not necessarily a solitary life. ?The state of nature for Locke was a state wherein there were no civil authorities or governments to punish people for transgressions against laws, but was not a state without morality. It was pre-political, but was not pre-moral. In it, persons were assumed to be equal to one another, and therefore equally capable of realizing and being obliged by the law of nature. (The law of nature being one internal, which commanded that no one should harm another as concerning their life, health, liberty, or possessions [p. 4]). In Lockes pre-contract condition, one was not at absolute liberty to do whatever one chose to do; they were inherently bound by the law of nature. ?Rousseaus state of nature had no private property. Private property was something which arose from the stages leading up to the need for authority. Where Locke saw property as something which was naturally protected in the state of nature, Rousseau conceived of property ? the result of greed, competition and vanity- as humanities reason for abandoning such a time and entering into the contract. ?For Rousseau, the few needs of the people in the pre-contract condition were easily satisfied by nature. Because of the abundance of nature and the small size of the population, competition was non-existent, and persons rarely even saw one another, much less had reason for conflict or fear. ?Moreover, for Rousseau, the simple and morally pure persons in the pre-contract condition were naturally endowed with the capacity for pity, and therefore were not inclined to bring harm to one another. There were no inherent ? laws forbidding transgressions on another; it was an internal aptitude for pity. It was the division of labor (once families and communities had developed and leisure time had resulted) that led to value and property, whereas Locke saw property as something that was existent in the natural condition.

Ouija Boards :: essays research papers fc

Ouija Boards For those of you that do not know what a ouija board is, it is a device used to supposedly ask questions of and receive answers from a seemingly supernatural force. Using a ouija board has become a controversial subject. Some people regard them as "evil" or a "tool of the Devil", yet they continue to be sold in stores along Scrabble and Monopoly as a game. The Ouija board was invented in the early 1890's by William Fuld. It is now sold by Parker Brothers. A ouija board is a small board with various symbols printed on its surface. These symbols include all letters of the alphabet, the numbers 1 to 9 and 0, and the words yes and no. A smaller board, shaped like a heart, called a planchette or pointer is used to direct the answers. Two or more people rest a Ouija board on their laps and press their fingers lightly on the pointer. One of them asks the board a question. The pointer supposedly answers by indicating a word or a number or by spelling out words. According to people who believe in the ouija board, spirits guide the pointer. Others think the fingers of the questioner influence the pointer. There are basic guidelines that should be followed for using Ouija boards. If any of you are willing to try one you should check out some of the safe things to do to protect yourself or anyone else from possible harm. As many people improvise a ouija board as a game, it is always best to protect yourself. Where there is no protection from 'evil forces' extremely frightening things can occur. Sinister messages can be spelt out, claimed to come from the devil. As to prove that no one person is purposely pushing the pointer, tales have been told of all removing their fingers except one, and the pointer continuing to whiz around in manic fashion - or of the pointer jumping up in the air or hurling itself off the table and smashing. Also evil spirits have been known to lie about who they are tricking the users into further danger. You have to be the judge of the information you receive. To believe everything that comes through on the board just because it's from the other side is extremely gullible, and is like believing everything that you read in the newspaper or see on TV. If your mind tells you there's something wrong, there probably is . If the information you're getting seems new to you, compare it with other channeled material and see if you're comfortable with it. Analysis on Olin Corporation

Olin differentiates itself from competitors by focusing the merchant market. Sales and growth This is a cyclical industry. This cyclical arises because supply is limited by the physical capacity of manufacturing facilities and ability to sell the co-product. Given these are commodity products, prices are very responsive to changes in supply and demand. Timing capacity growth with the cycle leads to a growth in sales. Demand for end-products ultimately drives demand for Color Alkali. The energy advantage North America has by using natural gas instead of crude oil has grown exports of end-products.Customers Most of sales are to the merchant market. The company is able to capture a greater hare of the merchant chlorine market than its overall share of the market capacity because it focuses on the merchant market instead of using the products in downstream production. Costs and Suppliers Almost 50% of production costs is raw materials. The two major needs are electricity and salt. Electr icity comes from coal, hydroelectric, natural gas and nuclear power. Regulatory Olin must comply with legislation regarding the environment, such as air, water and land quality, which requires capital expenditures and increases operation costs. The company has programs in place to minimize waste and prevent pollution. Legislation as passed in October 2009 surrounding the use of mercury cell technology, but expired without enactment. This would have increased the costs of operating mercury cell capacity, of which Olin has one facility. Since it is uncertain whether something similar will happen in the future, Olin chose to convert its mercury cell capacity now, that lead to a restructuring charge incurred in 2010. Winchester Olin has held Winchester for 80 years. Winchester is â€Å"the premier developer and manufacturer of small caliber ammunition†.Production is located in East Alton, IL, but new plans were announced in 2010 to move this operation to Oxford, MS. This would be the most modern production facility in North America and reduce operating costs by $30 million. Competitive environment The ammunition industry creates branded consumer products. Factors contributing to product differentiation include performance, product innovation and brand recognition. Among competitors, Wellness's NAS Eden addle to leverage I TTS Drain name, making it one of the three largest commercial ammunition manufactures in the United States, along with Lillian Tachometers and Remington Arms Company.Sales and growth Winchester has been able to drive sales by being a retail brand of choice and an industry innovator. Recently, the company has developed reduced-lead and non-lead products. Sales are seasonal with an increase in sales during the fall hunting season. Several five-year contracts provide stability in future sales going forward. Currently, Winchester does have a backlog of $178. 1 million which is down from the previous year. Customers Customers include retailers, law enforcement agencies, and militaries.Winchester has developed strong relationships with industrial customers, mass merchants, wholesalers and specialty sporting goods retailers. The company also holds several entrants with the U. S. Government, accounting for 5% of sales in 2010. Costs and Suppliers The raw materials needed include copper, ammunition cartridge case cups, and lead, purchased from vendors at the market price plus a conversion charge. Propellant, the other raw material needed, is purchased mostly from one large U. S. Supplier. Management and Ownership Management has a strong understanding of long-term value creation.Olin uses a discounted cash flow model to value the company's goodwill and reviews their assumptions annually and/or when assumptions are changed by circumstances. Olin sees several compensation methods that help align management's interest with shareholders'. A table outlining compensation can be found on page 29 of the appendix. Schools Have Options When Penning a Cell Phone Policy

Cell phones are increasingly becoming more of an issue for schools. It seems that every school addresses this issue utilizing a different cell phone policy. Students of all ages have begun to carry cell phones. This generation of students is more tech savvy than any who has become before them. A policy should be added to the student handbook to handle cell phone issues according to your district’s stance. Several different variations of a school cell phone policy and possible consequences are discussed here. Consequences are variable as they could apply to one or each of the policies below. Cell Phone Ban Students are not permitted to possess a cell phone for any reason on school grounds. Any student caught violating this policy will have their cell phone confiscated. First Violation: The cell phone will be confiscated and given back only when the parent comes by to pick it up. Second Violation: Forfeiture of the cell phone until the end of the last day of school. Cell Phone Not Visible During School Hours Students are permitted to carry their cell phones, but they should not have them out at any time unless there is an emergency. Students are allowed to use their cell phones only in an emergency situation. Students abusing this policy could have their cell phone taken until the end of the school day. Cell Phone Check In Students are permitted to bring their cell phone to school. However, they must check their phone into the office or their homeroom teacher upon arriving to school. It can be picked up by that student at the end of the day. Any student who fails to turn in their cell phone and is caught with it in their possession will have their phone confiscated. The phone will be returned to them upon paying a fine of $20 for violating this policy. Cell Phone as an Educational Tool Students are permitted to bring their cell phone to school. We embrace the potential that cell phones can be used as a technological learning tool in the classroom . We encourage teachers to implement the use of cell phones when appropriate into their lessons. Students will be trained at the beginning of the year as to what proper cell phone etiquette is within the confines of the school. Students may use their cell phones for personal use during transition periods or at lunch. Students are expected to turn their cell phones off when entering a classroom. Any student who abuses this privilege will be required to attend a cell phone etiquette refresher course. Cell phones will not be confiscated for any reason as we believe that confiscation creates a distraction for the student which interferes with learning.

William Shakespeare s Oedipus Tyrannus - 1531 Words

Oedipus Tyrannus is a play written by Sophocles, and it deals with the interactions between divine justice/fate and human control in the events that take place for Oedipus. He is the son of King Laius and Queen Jocasta but he was given away as an infant due to news of a horrid oracle that would destroy the kingdom and his parents. Apollo’s oracle shows that Oedipus’s destiny and life as a whole was already predetermined before he was born and that Oedipus has no choice that would affect those events. However the entire play is about the choices Oedipus is making, the investigation that brings him down is his own and the curse under which he falls is the one he utters from his own mouth. Oedipus goes from a prideful, arrogant and heroic king to a condemned humble man due to his tragic fate at the end of the play. Oedipus may not be happy towards the end of the play as opposed to the beginning but he reaches a point in which he is content. Oedipus is less free at the begi nning of the play as compared to the end because he is tied down by the miasma and hubris that surround him after he killed his father. In the end of the play Oedipus finally has full knowledge of who he is, and he blinds himself in a rage of penitence, accepting total responsibility, by saying his actions as well as the god’s fate are responsible for what he did, and he is determined to take the punishment of exile as well. Motivation to Lead

Question: Identify ways in which they can apply the results to improve leadership ability within their organization. Answer: Effective motivation and leadership helps every individual to get success in the workplace (Geller, 2016). In this assessment, the researcher is a Senior Personal Banker in Wales Fargo Bank. The process by which the researcher is leading the bank is quiet appreciable as the characteristics required for being a good leader is present in the researcher. As the researcher is more interested in becoming the leader rather than follower, he or she will surely benefit the bank from the policies that will be implemented by him or her. Apart from this, the nature of helping others in team without being a leader shows his or her ability to become a good leader. Moreover, the ability of researcher in leading others without any expectation in return is very courageous for others to follow (Tuckey, Bakker Dollard, 2012). Therefore, the assessment can be concluded that the researcher can be proved as a good leader in generating new sales and lead the bank towards success. The researcher has some other qualities that can be assessed in this study, which are indicating that the researcher can become a good leader. The interest of taking responsibility and getting responsibility in groups made the researcher more efficient for becoming an excellent person in charge who always agrees to take the responsibility and never expect any advantage from that. Therefore, finally it can be said that the researcher has the efficiency to become a better leader for the bank that will improve their sales as well as the internal environment of the organisation. The Hidden Reasons for Salem Accepting Abagails S Essay Example For Students

The Hidden Reasons for Salem Accepting Abagails S Essay toriesSalem Witchcraft TrialsThroughout society and throughout literature, vulnerable communities under certain conditions can be easily taken advantage of by a person or group of people presumed innocent. In the play, The Crucible by Arthur Miller, there are three main factors that allowed the girls fallacious stories to be believed: Salems flawed court system, its lack of diversity in beliefs and religion, and the lack of a strong leader in the town. Although Abigail and the girls initiated the accusations, the responsibility lies with the entire community. It was the deterioration of Salems social structure that precipitated the murders of many innocent people. The church, legal system and the togetherness of the community fell just to protect social status. We will write a custom essay on The Hidden Reasons for Salem Accepting Abagails S specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now Salems flawed court system was chiefly responsible. Under their courts, denial was considered a terrible sin. The narrow mindedness of the court possessed an unwritten law that if a name was brought out within the court, without any questioning, that person was presumed guilty. In this system, innocence is not taken into consideration, and the court is convinced they are right only if the victim confesses. There is no hearing for the victim, and even if they are truly innocent, they are only left with two options: They have the choice of denial, which will lead to their execution; or confessing, which gets them thrown into jail. To prove that all these people were actually guilty also played a part in lengthening the tragedy. Herrick, Cheever and Danforth are all full of their own importance and strictness of the court. They ask question after question to each victim until the defendant breaks down and confesses to save their life. Hale, a person who was brought in from out of town to ward off the evil spirits, began to realize the victims innocence towards the end. However, he knew the strictness of the court: Though our hearts break, we cannot flinch, these are new times. Another contributing factor was the fact that everyone in the town had the same beliefs. The fact that they were isolated from all other groups of people with different beliefs created a church-led Puritan society that was unable to handle change. The reputation of a family was very important to the members of the community. When the girls were caught dancing in the woods, they lied to protect not just themselves but the reputation of their families. When caught, they claimed that the devil took them over and influenced them to dance. The girls also said that they saw members of the town standing with the devil. By shifting the blame onto someone else, they believed that they would not be held accountable for their own sins. Salems lack of a leader in the town was also key. Parris was supposed to be a leader, however when the church tried to excommunicate John Proctor, there were not even enough people at church to do it. The people were getting misled so much that someone left a dagger stuck in the door of their ministers house: Tonight, when I open my door to leave my housea dagger clattered to the groundThere is danger for me. were Parris exact words. With the conveyer of God fearing for his life there was no longer anyone but Abigail to lead the community. Salems hysteria made the community lose faith in the spiritual beliefs that they were trying to strictly enforce. The church lost many of its parishioners because the interest of the town was focused now on Abigail because people wanted to know who was going to be named next. Abigail used her power of getting people to listen to her to her advantage when she charged Proctors spouse with being a witch so she could live with John Proctor. This again proves that Abigail had control of the town and the unexplained turned neighbor against neighbor. Abigail manipulates her way through the play, and even after Mary Warren confessed that the whole story was a pretense, Abigail continues manipulating the court room and the people within it with antics of a wind, a cold wind and Oh Heavenly Father, take away this shadow. .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb , .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .postImageUrl , .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb , .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:hover , .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:visited , .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:active { border:0!important; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:active , .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6ad85468b08d5b3b09e7c6685f49d3eb:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: The Giver EssayIn essence, it was the social breakdown in Salem that was the major factor which allowed the girls stories to be believed. Woefully, this tragedy took the lives of many innocent people and the community that was once very close had been broken apart. It appeared that the people of Salem were like a family but isolation actually made them unable to adapt to a troublesome situation. Hopefully for the future, all accused will continue to have the opportunity for defense, so that a situation similar to the events that occurred in Salem will remain in history alone.

Gender Neutral Bathrooms Essays - Gender, Identity, Transgender

Gender Neutral Restroom s Gender Neutral Restroom s It is no secret that the world is classified in a binary system. Everything is this or that, black or white, and more specifically male or female . Society has been shaped to only see two polar extremities of a spectrum that is complex and has infinite possibilities . Where the world aims to please a binary system, it leaves everyone in the grey areas out. A prime example of this is public restrooms where there are typically only male or female option s . What about people who feel as though they are neither a male nor a female? What about people who are transgender and fear harassment in the restroom? What about parents of different gendered children? What about waiting in line because one restroom is full but the other is no t an option to use? It is because of reasons like th e se that gender neutral restroom s should be the new standard for facility restrooms and through education and advocacy for said inclusi ve restrooms, changing the standards will be a revolutionary step forward in combatting the binary sanctions that society lives by. Anxiety is a naturally occurring feeling when an inner panic arises over something stressful. The average person is known to have anxiety about using public facilities like restrooms. Using the restroom is a very private thing that everyone must do and completing this task may be exceptionally hard for people who cannot concentrate with others around. People with health conditions find it even more challenging than those without. S imply going number one (urination) or number two (defecation) can be hard tasks for these affected people, not to mention the other obstacles that they may have to overcome as a result of further serious conditions ( Molotch Noren , 2010). Single stalled res t rooms are a great solution that allow for people to keep their privacy as well as their dignity . I n some extreme cases (diarrhea, vomiting, etc.), people feel especially embarrassed to do what they have to do even if tho se actions are out of their control. A beneficial movement towards easing this widespread anxiety over something that is natural and beyond control is the idea of gender non-specific , private restrooms ( Molotch Noren , 2010). Many people do not see the need to change up how the world does their restrooms, but this particular issue is more applicable than those people may realize. Most of them view this solution as only potentially solving one problem, but in educating them they will be able to see that the problem is not black or white and that this solution is able to solve multiple problems at once. Cavanagh (2010) discussed an interview in which people , from various different backgrounds, explained what the ideal rest room would look like to them. While most people agreed that gendering them was not a necessity, many people started off by describ ing the ir ideal restroom as personal and private rooms. S ingle stalled rest rooms that could include a chair or a small bench for people to take a rest quietly or for mothers to nurse in private would be ideal for one target group of the population . The people in the interview also agreed that baby changing stations would be important to include in each gender non-specific room in hopes of accommodating another portion of the population . One specific person, during the interview, pointed out that nobody would be watching to see which person goes into which restroom , but that everyone can just choose which ever one is available at th at given time (Cavanagh, 2010). Having restrooms like those will also cut down on waiting times unlike with gender-specific restrooms , someone may have to stand in a line for their correctly affiliated restroom . With gender neutral restrooms a ny person would then be able to enter any restroom that is not being occupied an d therefore would be able to rid themselves of their needs quicker , and with less anxiety over it . In 2015, over 28,000 transgender people , at least age
